Obituary of Gene E. Mulberry
Gene Emerson Mulberry, 87, “The happiest man you ever met,” went home to be with his Lord on Thursday morning, June 13, 2019. Born in Xenia, Ohio, to Aubrey and Marcella (Hoetger) Mulberry, he was the husband of Ella (Stanton) Mulberry for 64 years, and would have celebrated 65 years in November.
Gene served with the Air Force in Okinawa from 1951-52 and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked as a carpenter before joining the Burrough’s Corporation and attending Electronics School. He worked for Burrough’s for over 30 years, first in Detroit, MI, and then as Manager of their Training Facility in Malvern, PA. He continued to love working with wood and always said his hobby was making sawdust.
An active member of Crossroads Community Fellowship and previously of Calvary Baptist Church, Romulus, MI, and Vincent Baptist Church, Chester Springs, PA, Gene taught Sunday School and Junior Church for over 65 years, impacting countless young lives. Gene loved to share his faith and give a reason for the hope within him. He loved writing poetry, songs, plays, curriculums and essays.
He is survived by his wife, Ella, and their four children, Terri, wife of John McCumber, Lebanon, PA; Bruce, husband of Terri (Gottier), Pottstown, PA; Cheryl, Robesonia, PA; Errin, husband of Jennifer (Haufler), Robesonia, PA; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and one brother, Neale Mulberry of Orlando, FL. He is preceded in death by four siblings; Aubrey Mulberry, Lois Marsh, Lorence Mulberry and Ella Moore.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11 AM at Crossroads Community Church Fellowship, 1060 E Newport Rd, Lititz, PA 17543. Private interment took place at Crossroads Community Church Fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Least of These Missions, P.O. Box 73, Elm, PA, 17521.
