Obituary of Mary Toth

Mary Toth, 88, of Manheim, PA, formerly of New York City, NY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday evening, March 19, 2012 at Essa Flory Hospice Center in Lancaster, PA. Mrs. Toth was born to Hungarian parents in Columbus, OH on April 29, 1923. At age four, she returned with her family to their native Transylvania, Romania, which was formerly a part of Hungary prior to World War 1. While in Romania, she met George Toth, who became her husband on July 4, 1944. They are the parents of two children, George, Jr., husband of Zsuzsi Toth, of New York City, NY, and Martha P. Weaver, with whom Mrs. Toth lived. The Toths and their children immigrated to the United States in December 1970. A homemaker, Mrs. Toth was a member of the First Hungarian Baptist Church in New York City. In addition to being church custodian, she assisted her husband in his ministry of elder and sang in the church choir. She also shared her gift of cooking with the church by organizing many church meals and dinners. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by a grandson, George C. Toth; and two sisters in Romania. She was preceded in death by one brother. Services are private at the invitation of the family. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Manheim. There is no viewing. The family requests that flowers please be omitted.
