Obituary of E. Grace Lehman

E. Grace Lehman, 85, of Lancaster, PA, formerly of Thomas Mills, PA, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Brethren Village, Lancaster. Born in Millersburg, OH, she was the daughter of the late Mast and Beulah Mast Kauffman. She was the wife of the late Ernest W. Lehman who died in 1985. A homemaker, Grace was a member of Thomas Mennonite Church in Thomas Mills, PA where she had served as Sunday school superintendent and teacher and was a member of the Women's Sewing Circle. In addition to vegetable gardening, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and doing other crafts. Grace had the gift of hospitality, often preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. She is survived by three daughters, Lois D., wife of Carl L. Snader, of Lancaster, Mary R., wife of Rev. Daryl E. Witmer, of Monson, ME, and Deborah K., wife of Lynwood L. Howard, of Crewe, VA; two sons, Joel E., husband of Darlene F. Miller Lehman, of Harrisonburg, VA, and Jonathan M., husband of Diane L. Jerin Lehman, of Hollsopple, PA; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmo, husband of Kathryn Kauffman, of Millersburg, OH; two sisters, Lois, wife of Jack Thatcher, of Brinkhaven, OH and Geneva, wife of Melvin Martin, of Gap, PA; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Owen and Mabel Lehman, of Boswell, PA. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Brethren Village for their kind and compassionate care while their mother resided in Harvest Way North and Brook Place South. A funeral service will be held at Thomas Mennonite Church, 112 Swank Road Hollsopple, PA 15935 on Tuesday, November 15 at 11 a.m. with her son-in-law, Rev. Daryl E. Witmer, officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday evening, November 14 from 6 - 9 p.m. and on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The family invites guests to join them in the fellowship hall of the church for a luncheon immediately following the graveside service.
