Obituary of Constance J. Mumper

Constance (Connie) J. Moore (Miller) Mumper of Mount Joy was called home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2024 at her home after a brief illness. Born in Three Springs, PA, she was the daughter of the late Glenn H. Moore and Myrtle (Smith) Moore.

First and foremost, Connie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.  She always prayed that her life would serve as a testimony to all she knew. Her Christian and loving legacy will undoubtedly ripple through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and yet-to-be great-grandchildren.

Connie lived a full and substantial life and will be remembered by everyone who knew her as a loving, kind, generous, loyal, and fun-loving woman. It was truly a blessing for anyone who could call her Mom, Grandma, wife, or friend.  Her sincere love was so evident.

Her career included working for Amp, Inc., Glass Specialty Systems, and as a realtor at Autrey-Zink and Preferred Realty Group. Additionally, she owned and operated a children’s clothing store in Mount Union, PA.

Throughout her life, she attended Cromwell Bible Church in Three Springs, Elizabethtown Grace Brethren Church, and Marietta Community Bible Church, participating in various church groups such as Life Groups and serving as a Grief Share Group leader. She also sponsored and supported missionaries, including opening her home for a missionary awaiting her assignment.

She volunteered countless hours at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy and the Mount Joy Gift and Thrift Shop. Additionally, she participated in various clubs, such as being a member and past president of the Mount Joy Flower Club, a member of the Mount Joy Historical Society, and a past member of the Zembo Shrine Yacht Club in Harrisburg.

Connie was a warm and gracious host.  Her family and friends always enjoyed spending time at her home, having one of her outstanding home-cooked meals, playing games such as hand & foot, pinochle, and dominoes, or just enjoying her company. She also enjoyed going out for a good meal with her loved ones.

Family was central to Connie’s life, and she deeply cherished yearly trips to her and her late husband Dale's home in Sarasota, FL, and trips to their Chesapeake Bay home in Centreville, MD. Connie and Dale enjoyed navigating their boat, CODA, to destinations like St. Michaels, Annapolis, and Baltimore, always sharing these amazing experiences with her family. They also enjoyed trips down the intercoastal waterway from Kent Island, MD to Daytona Beach, FL, with their dear boating friends.

She had a sense of adventure and enjoyed crossing off the many items on her “bucket list”, including day and weekend trips with her family, culminating in a European riverboat tour this past fall.

She fondly remembered her many trips to Guatemala visiting her daughter Donna’s family and experiencing their beautiful culture, particularly enjoying Guatemala City and Antigua.

Connie was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert E. Miller, in 1998, and her second husband, Dale W. Mumper, in 2013, along with five siblings: Wilbur Moore, Sandra (Joan) Rothermel, Richard Moore, Glenn Moore, and Tonya Barnhart.

She is survived by her three children: Donna Miller de Montenegro (Gerardo) of Guatemala City, Guat.; Robert E. Miller, Jr. (Joan) of Manheim; and Darren R. Miller (Susan) of Maytown. She is also survived by her dearly beloved nine grandchildren: Maria Fernanda Montenegro, Miranda Montenegro, Maria Renee Montenegro, Anna Pungitore (Michael), Robert W. Miller (Halle), Audrey Sheaffer (Benjamin), Nicholas Miller, Zachary Miller (Emma), and Samantha Miller (Anthony).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a closed casket visitation from 9:30 AM to 11 AM ending with a memorial service at 11 AM, Monday February 12th, at Community Bible Church located at 331 Anderson Ferry Road, Marietta.  A luncheon will be provided at the church immediately following the service.  A private graveside service will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Community Bible Church Missionary Fund or her Disciples Life Group.
